Meet Hass
Hasaranga "Hass" Ratnayake
My parents immigrated to Riverside from Sri Lanka when I was 5 months old. My sister and I were raised in a single, working-parent household and attended Montessori Academy, Pachappa Elementary, Matthew Gage Middle School, and Poly High School. After high school, I applied for several jobs during the "Great Recession", but no one was hiring, so I created my own company with my best friend, harvesting and re-selling fresh produce at farmers' markets. Three years later I decided to pursue my passion for real estate. Ten years after making that career change, I manage rental properties throughout Southern California and assist those owners (and many others) in purchase and sales activities. I love my City, State, and Country, and believe my story is not atypical for those who work hard, stay out of trouble, and pursue their dreams relentlessly.
After living in the Magnolia Center, Mission Grove, and the Eastside, I've settled in the Downtown neighborhood with my girlfriend and four dogs. Our neighbors and all the great historical, cultural, and entertainment experiences Riverside has to offer — from the views of Mount Rubidoux to the annual Wood Streets yard sale to the docent tours at the Mission Inn — make it the perfect place for our family. Riverside has been great to me, and I want to make it even better for you. That is why I am running for Ward 1 City Council: to give back to my community through public service. As an elected representative my job will be to hear your concerns and work to resolve them. Thank you for visiting my website to learn more about me.
